FAQS:
What is deshedding and carding?
It is the process of removing the loose undercoat. It is done using a shedding tool that will grab, pull and remove (or thin out) the dead or molted undercoat hair which may not shed on its own especially with warmer temperatures. Removing this loose undercoat will help your canine stay comfortable, cooler in summers, allowing the skin to breath and encourage proper hair growth.
Deshedding and Carding is typically done on dogs who:
-
Have thick fur
-
Have a double coat
-
Including the Sporting Breeds like Cocker Spaniels and Setters to help the topcoat lay flatter with a smoother appearance
-
Goldens, Huskies, Collies and Pomeranians
-
-
Are Short-Coated
-
Including Pugs, Chihuahuas, Labs and others
-
Previously shaven double coated dogs:
Deshedding and carding techniques will remove the impacted clumps of undercoat to encourage guard hair growth.
